Lupa - The She Wolf
The She Wolf of this Contrada refers to the legend that Siena was founded by Senius and Aschius the sons of Remus, who was raised by a wolf. Lupa has no allies among the other Contradas.
In the Early mornings of the week before the two Palios in July and August, the Piazza del Campo in Siena is alive with activity as the beautiful horses are brought in to acclimatise to the sights and sounds of the square and to soak up the atmosphere before race day.
