Chiocciola is situated in the south-western corner of Siena. Traditionally its residents worked as teracotta makers. Chiocciolas symbol is a snail surrounded by roses. The Contrada’s motto is “With slow and deliberate steps, snail takes to the field to triumph”.

In the Early mornings of the week before the two Palios in July and August, the Piazza del Campo in Siena is alive with activity as the beautiful horses are brought in to acclimatise to the sights and sounds of the square and to soak up the atmosphere before race day.
